Informed by the insightful vision of Koç Holding’s founder Vehbi Koç, Tofaş Türk Otomobil Fabrikası A.Ş. is
incorporated as a joint venture of Koç Holding and Fiat.

On April 13th, construction work begins on the Tofaş plant in Bursa.
On February 12th, the Bursa plant is formally opened in a ceremony. Heading the crowded list of guests in attendance
are President Cevdet Sunay, Prime Minister Süleyman Demirel, General Chief of Staff Memduh Tağmaç, Tofaş Chairman Vehbi
Koç, Fiat Chairman Umberto Agnelli, Minister of Industry and Bursa Governor.
Commissioned with an installed manufacturing capacity of 20 thousand vehicles a year, production at the Bursa plant commences with Murat 124.
An important milestone is reached in the export history of Türkiye’s automotives industry when Tofaş ships its first Murat 124 models to Egypt.
The Tofaş Sports Club is formed. Initially active in wrestling, basketball, football, volleyball, and athletics, the club later decides to concentrate on
basketball, after which its teams start bringing home many championships. With investment in sports infrastructure
continuing in line with the company’s sense of social responsibility, the Tofaş Sports Club supports the emergence of
numerous young stars.

Participating in its first global automobile project with its contributions to Fiat Palio, Tofaş begins managing a
world-spanning supply chain.
Marea and Brava go into production.
Fiat Doblò goes into production and Tofaş creates a segment of its own in the Turkish automotives industry. For the
first time, Tofaş personnel are directly involved in a project’s pre-production stages. The Doblò becomes one of
Tofaş’s most important models for many years.
Tofaş becomes the Turkish representative for Alfa Romeo, one of Fiat Auto’s marques.
The Palio series is given a makeover. Production of the Siena ceases and is replaced with Albea, whose project involves
the development of a new product type for the first time. Albea is subsequently included in Fiat’s global portfolio and
production of this model begins in Fiat plants in other countries.
Tofaş plays host to Michael Schumacher, one of the world’s foremost Formula 1 racing drivers, who comes to Türkiye for
the first time to appear in an advertisement for the FCA Palio.
In keeping with Tofaş’s commitment to preserving Türkiye’s historical and cultural heritage, the company opens the Tofaş
Museum of Cars and Anatolian Carriages in Bursa.

Koç Fiat Kredi Finansman A.Ş., a captive financing company set up jointly by the Koç and Fiat groups, becomes a
wholly-owned subsidiary of Tofaş as a result of its acquisition of all of that company’s shares.
Work begins at Tofaş on the company’s “Minicargo Project”, whose aim is to develop a new light commercial vehicle for
Fiat, Peugeot, and Citroen. This is Tofaş’s first multi-marque production project.
With the incorporation of Fer Mas Oto Ticaret AŞ, a wholly-owned Tofaş subsidiary, Tofaş becomes the official
representative for Ferrari and Maserati in Türkiye.

Egea Fiat Sedan, has been selected "Türkiye's Best-Selling Automobile" with 34 thousand units sold in 2018 and thus protects the last 3 years the best-selling title of the automobile.
By leading the product development process at Tofaş, three different hardware versions that can be preferred in the Hatchback and Station Wagon body versions of the Egea model family were put on the market. Street and Sport versions with more dynamic design details can be preferred in the Hatchback version of Egea; The S-Design version is offered in Hatchback and Station Wagon body type.

Tofaş unloaded its 6 millionth vehicle from the tape. The 6 millionth vehicle produced at the factory was the Fiat Egea Sedan from the Egea Model Family.
Fiat Doblo has left 20 years of success behind. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Fiat Doblo, which we started production in 2000 in Tofaş, the special production version was put on the market.
In order to support the availability of medical supplies needed in combating the coronavirus epidemic, Tofaş sent the protective health equipment designed and produced in the R&D Center to health institutions in 70 provinces. In this process, Tofaş produced 1300 biological sampling and intubation cabinets with 50 thousand visor masks. In addition, it created an online platform where demands are collected, production and shipment functions are monitored, and the designs of the equipment are presented as open source so that different companies can also benefit.
By leading the product development process of Tofaş, the Egea model family, which started mass production in 2015 and exported to many countries of the world, especially Europe, under the name Tipo was renewed. With the renewal, in addition to Sedan, Hatchback and Station Wagon body options, the “Egea Cross” was added to the model range, which is prepared to represent the family in the Crossover class.
According to the R & D 250 Research Turkishtime Türkiye Tofas, the most among the 10 companies in the field of patent and R & D Center's activities. With 23 patents registered by Türkpatent in 2019, Tofaş became the 7th company that received the most patents.
By building a bridge between local suppliers and FCA, Tofaş took an important step towards creating new collaborations after the pandemic and additional export opportunities for the country's economy. In this context, Tofaş has reached an agreement with FCA to carry out technical evaluation and proposal studies for the purchase of parts to be used in different factories of FCA from Turkish suppliers.
